Abstract

Nucleus management is a pivotal and vital step in phacoemulsification. Different types and grades of cataracts require different techniques for optimal and safe nuclear fractis. This video assisted course will cover various surgical techniques of nucleus management like divide and conquer, stop and chop and direct chop and will highlight the merits of each technique making it suitable for different cataract types. Different techniques of managing soft cataract will also be highlighted. Innovative solutions in situations where planned nucleus technique might not work will also be demonstrated by short videos. Videos illustrating management of posterior polar cataracts as well as hard intumescent cataracts are also incorporated in the instruction course. This interactive course will help the attendees evolve as better phaco surgeons by knowing the different techniques and making the appropriate choice depending on the type and grade of cataract.
