Abstract
When endophthalmitis strikes ; it strikes at the core of the surgeon and the patient. While the patient contemplates a potentially blinding disease the surgeon is confronted with salvaging the situation, maximising visual outcomes and considering legal issues. This IC provides an integrated and practical approach as to how to confront endophthalmitis head on using all hands on board. Along with posterior segment evaluations; evaluation of the anterior segment can also provide critical diagnostic clues to aetiology. Appropriate specialist consultations and proper specimen management can reap rich dividends. The finer nuances of medical and surgical management will be highlighted. And last but not the least the relevance of communication, transparency and legal aspects will be discussed. This practical session which incorporates anecdotal experiences from experienced surgeons will add considerable value and insight in the management of postoperative endophthalmitis.
