Abstract
Public Trust and undeterred faith form the cornerstone of successful medical practice. However gradual erosion of faith in medical professionals and viewing medical treatment as a commodity by patient has posed a serious threat to patient doctor relationship with far reaching consequences. This Instruction Course focuses on the changing dynamics of public perception of eye care and it’s effects. Our famous movies reinforce the notorious myths about ophthalmic treatment perpetrating misconceptions. Furthermore the internet has become a source of obfuscatory, non-curated and unscientific information about eye ailments and its treatment posing a threat to community eye health. Often public views are shaped by derogatory comments by professionals regarding the treatment received from competitors. The mighty social media platforms can make or break a doctor’s reputation. The onus lies with professionals to pass on unambiguous information to improve public perception of eye care.
