Abstract
Simple oculoplastic conditions such as ptosis and motility disturbances – can be the presenting features of complex local and systemic conditions such as myasthenia gravis, chronic progressive external ophthalmoplegia, invasive fungal rhino-orbital-cerebral infections among others. The aim of this course is to provide a comprehensive overview of potentially dangerous conditions that present to the oculoplastic surgeon and give a detailed insight into the identifying the red flags, clinical signs and imaging modalities that help diagnosis. This course will cover key masquerade conditions where oculoplastics & neuro-ophthalmology converge.
Course Objectives:
-Evaluate any case of ptosis and weed out the red flags.
-Identify and diagnose Myasthenia Gravis and request clinical investigations based on which treatment can be initiated.
-Diagnose 3rd Nerve Palsy, CPEO, Thyroid eye disease and other conditions with systemic implications which can present first to the oculoplastic surgeon.
