Abstract

Lid/brow avulsions are usually complex irregular wounds with flaps that require alignment in proper orientation to avoid disfigurement & loss of function this applies more so when addressing wounds associated with tissue loss following blunt trauma which are frequently associated significant edema & ecchymosis. Direct closure when performed without the appropriate attention to landmarks, knowledge of anatomy & principles of reconstructive surgery may lead to vision threating complications & excessive scarring , however it is not uncommon in practice to come across these patients. Early Revision/ Secondary repair may help improve outcomes.

METHOD

Here we are presenting a case highlighting the role of landmark identification & proper reorientation of flaps in a secondary repair done for a traumatic laceration in a child.

CONCLUSION

Traumatic lacerations require a thoughtful, well-planned approach in order to provide the best outcome & reduce the chances of postoperative complications.
