Abstract
With increasing use of glaucoma drainage devices, we are able to salvage several eyes with refractory glaucomas. These eyes are predisposed to various implant related complications, some of which can be sight threatening.
In this video, we shall describe the tube and plate related complications of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve and shall discuss the options in the management of tube block and demonstrate and share practical tips on the surgical technique of tube redirection.
Our case had an implant tube blocked by the iris and the corneal tissue leading to uncontrolled intra-ocular pressure and peripheral corneal decompensation and the patient was referred for a repeat implant. A repeat implant should be considered only if no alternative option is available. We performed tube redirection that not only helped to salvage the failing implant but also the corneal decompensation.
Tube redirection is a relatively easy and a reliable option in the management of tube block and retraction.
