Abstract
Trabeculectomy, since it’s introduction in 1968 by Cairnes, has remained the time tested gold standard for effective surgical management for Glaucoma. There is one step that is tantamount to making or breaking the procedure and that is the suturing. Sutures provide resistance to flow across the flap in the early postoperative period prior to wound healing. The step of suturing the flap has seen many modifications along the way. To name a few: Simple sutures, releasable sutures, Laserable sutures. With this video compilation we intend to show the correct method of each type of suturing. Along with this, we would like to showcase a new method of combo-releasable suture which has proved effective in our hands. It has helped reduce short-term complications associated with overdrainage while improving the long-term outcomes of bleb survival and pressure reduction. This video boquet will serve as a mini-course on a video assisted skill transfer regarding suturing techniques in trabeculectomy
