Abstract
A 32-year-old male presented with redness and foreign body sensation of 1 day duration, at a community outreach centre. He gave history of foreign body falling into his eyes while having a nap under the tree. Torchlight examination yielded no results; however when examined using ASPI(Anterior Segment Photography with Intraocular lens), we could identify movement of larvae. It was extracted with forceps under topical anesthesia, examined with IOLSCOPE(four 30D IOL arranged one upon the other attached to the smartphone camera) and identified as oestrus ovis. He was prescribed topical antibiotics and steroids.
Ophthalmomyasis externa is a cause of acute red eye. ASPI and IOLSCOPE are 2 innovative devices with applications in rural camps, outreach centers.
