Abstract
oculoplasty surgeon. Owing to the diversity of presentation, clinical and pathological types, surgical
options for management and ultimate outcome, ptosis continues to baffle even the most
experienced surgeons. Clinical examination is the most important part in the management of ptosis.
It gives us information about the type of ptosis, degree of severity and any complicating factors,
which is essential to decide the surgery and the amount of correction desired. Safety of the surgery
and the expected outcome can also be predicted to a certain degree. In this video, we illustrate the
basics of history taking and examination techniques in any case of ptosis. The correct methods of
performing the examination will be demonstrated and relevant clinical implications will be
highlighted.
