Abstract
Our first case presented with abaxial proptosis. Imaging was consistent with the diagnosis of multiple hydatid cysts. Location in medial orbit and multicystic nature, poses a definite surgical challenge; as spillage of cyst contents may lead to fatal anaphylactic shock and secondary hydatidosis. We adapted a minimalistic approach, to avoid the fatal complications and achieved successful functional and cosmetic outcome. Our second case demonstrates cysticercosis of the lateral rectus, where surgical excision of the cyst was performed, once the orbital inflammation resolved with medical management.
We believe that, this video would improve the understanding of the ophthalmic surgeons, to approach and manage the cases of orbital parasitic cyst.
