Abstract
Methods: A 27 years old soldier presented to eye department with history of penetrating ocular injury with retained intraocular metallic foreign body 2 days back. Pars plana vitrectomy with removal of foreign body with silicon oil insertion along with peripheral barrage laser was done as primary surgery. After 3 months, Silicon oil was removed with cataract surgery and implantation of posterior chamber intraocular lens.
Results: After primary surgery, vision was dropped to counting finger.After one month of secondary surgery, his best corrected visual acuity was 6/6 with 16 mm of Hg intraocular pressure. Retina was attached with dry macula. Intraocular lens was in central position in sulcus.
Conclusions:Optimum timing of surgery and logical combination of steps of surgical procedures should be in mind to preserve the vision with smiling postoperative patient.
