Abstract

An important first step in Toric IOL surgery to correct corneal astigmatism is accurate corneal axis marking. There are various marking techniques, but the widely available and quick one is the slit lamp axis marking.

Measuring the axis marks is equally important as is the technique of marking, or else, this can cause improper placement of Toric IOL intraoperatively and astigmatic surprise postoperatively.

This is a simplified and practical video to help residents, fellows and young ophthalmologists to mark the cornea for Toric IOL on slit lamp and minimise errors.
