Abstract
An 11 year old girl presented to the pediatric ophthalmology clinic for routine evaluation for difficulty with board work. Her BCVA was 20/20, N6 with refraction of -0.50 DC @180 degrees in OU. OU Anterior segment and OD fundus evaluation was normal. In OS during fundus evaluation with indirect ophthalmoscope, a solitary, smooth surfaced, pigmented mass was noted, which moved to and fro between the anterior and mid vitreous with eye movements. It was negative to transillumination and was surrounded by vitreous syneresis. Rest of the fundus was unremarkable. Ultrasound B scan of OS revealed a solitary cystic mass with no hyperreflective lesion within. Hematology and serology workup for parasitic infestation was negative. We diagnosed her with a congenital pigmented vitreous cyst. She was asymptomatic with no change in morphology of the cyst at 1 year followup. This video highlights the spectrum of differential diagnoses, investigation modalities and treatment options for vitreous cyst.
