Abstract
Aphakia is one of the global causes of post-traumatic or post-surgical diminution of vision. Aphakias result from a previous Cataract surgery ,Trauma etc. Pt lack a capsular support for the implantation of a Posterior Chamber IOL either in the capsular bag or in the sulcus. Currently secondary IOLs are available such as the Anterior Chamber IOLs, Iris-Fixated IOLs, Scleral-Fixated IOL etc.
Method
The new CM T-Flex hydrophilic foldable IOL specifically designed for the management of Aphakia which is 13.75 mm in length with a unique design of a T- junction haptic that prevents the slippage of the haptic once it is brought out of the sclerostomy site.
Result
On final PO exam after 4 weeks, Pt had final VA of 6/9 and a stable and well centred IOL, with healed scleral flaps with clear cornea and round pupil. The UBM images showed good anatomical position as comparable to any other SFIOL.
Conclusion
This IOL was a good alternative to other secondary IOLs
