Abstract

Modified Nishida’s procedure is a no split, no tenotomy transposition technique done for lateral rectus palsy to reduce esotropia and improve abduction. The advantages of this procedure over other transposition techniques viz Hummelsheim’s procedure, Jensen’s procedure and O’ Connor’s procedure is that the incidence of anterior segment ischemia and vertical deviations is reduced drastically. In the following video, we aim to present Modified Nishida’s procedure along with medial rectus recession done for a case of post traumatic B/L VI cranial nerve palsy with post operative orthotropia in primary gaze and improved abduction. This procedure can also be modified to treat other nerve palsies by altering their muscle vectors.

Conclusion: Modified Nishida’s procedure is a safe, efficient and effective technique that can used to treat lateral rectus palsy with minimal complications.
