Abstract
It is known that peripheral endothelial cell density (ECD) is nearly 9-14% more than the central ECD, more in the superior cornea. This video demonstrates the donor preparation and use of “Peripherally-trephinated (pD)” donor tissue in DMEK (DMEK-pD) instead of centrally-trephinated (cD) donor tissue, with the aim of higher endothelial cell density in the postoperative period without altering the surgeon’s standard technique.
This video will also show the results following DMEK-pD between 6 months to 2 years with encouraging results compared to DMEK-cD.
