Abstract
To report two different cases of sunflower cataract – one with Kayser-Fleischer ring and other rare presentation without KF ring
Method
Two cases refered from paediatrician as jaundice, pedal oedema & altered liver function tests
Case1: 11 year old female child with slurring of speech,Tremor, hypopigmentaion over face, cogwheel rigidity, genu valgum. On examination vision was 6/6 both eyes, brownish yellow zone in peripheral cornea suggestive of KF ring seen in both eyes
Case2: 13 year old female child .Vision was 6/6 both eyes. Cornea was clear without any features of KF ring. Other examination shows hepatic dysfunction.
Both cases shows anterior capsular sunflower cataract both eyes.
Result
In both cases ,low ceruloplasmin value, elevated 24 hour copper value, Both yields the diagnosis of Wilson’s disease
Conclusion
In rare situations of Wilsons disease, sunflower cataract can be seen without KF ring. Both patients are started on T. D-Pencillamine & on regular monitoring.
