Abstract
Purpose:After cataract surgery cystoid macular edema is characterized by hyper permeability of macular capillaries resulting in excessive fluid in retina & poly cystic expansion of extracellular spaces. This study aims to describe the prevalence and risk factors of MME compared to pseudophakic CME..Method:Retrospectively patients reviewed had phacoemulsification were treated postoperatively. A data set of 108 patients where topical NSAID administered in 98 eyes perioperatively and 74 eyes were not treated.Aim achieved by measuring the central subfield thickness with pre & post operative OCT.Result:Dataset had CMLs in 11 out of 172 eyes.6 of 172 eyes had CME & 8 of 172 eyes had MME.Incidence of MME significantly decreased in groups treated with topical NSAID(p=0.039),while CME didn’t improve with topical NSAID & needed added treatments. Conclusion:This study widened clinical spectrum of cystoid macular leisons.Follow up with OCT & use of topical NSAID could decrease CML.
