Abstract

Cluster Endophthalmitis(CE) is an alarming episode for the surgeon, the department and the institution. Deliberation on the practicalities faced after CE is a sensitive topic and rarely presented.The course intends to prepare all sections of ophthalmologists engaged in varied sectors to handle CE in an effective way, based on actual experiences.We begin by providing guidelines on rational clinical management and counselling of patients (including when to refer or surgically intervene).Next,the constitution and mammoth work of incident investigation committee will be outlined.Ophthalmic OT regulations will be put forth discussing debatable issues that may land the surgeon in trouble. Medico legal implications in today’s scenario of alleging patients and government laws will be discussed.Directives will be provided to handle the media turmoil and political uproar. Panel discussion planned exploring dubious points with active audience interaction. Hand-outs of individual talk to be given.
