Abstract
Contemporary Keratoplasty techniques are the result of a culmination of ideas, research, and perseverance over centuries.
Starting from decision-making in choosing the correct surgical techniques in various corneal pathologies to successfully performing the procedure, each will be discussed in detail. Various aspects of the types of corneal transplant procedures like penetrating keratoplasty (PKP), lamellar keratoplasty (ALK, DALK) endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK, DMEK) will be discussed. Corneal trephination, suturing, and instrumentation will be reviewed. The course instructors will discuss the challenges involved in these techniques and the management of any inadvertent complication that can occur. Femtosecond assisted Keratoplasty, sutures less Keratoplasty and other advances in the Keratoplasty techniques will also discussed.
This course will provide appropriate platform where attendees and corneal enthusiasts can discuss and debate the nuances involved in corneal transplant.
