Abstract
Method: A total 60 diagnosed cataract cases coming to eye OPD were included in study. Patients were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 of 30 patients underwent uneventful Manual SICS with superior straight incision and Group 2 of 30 patients were underwent uneventful manual SICS with superior frown incision. The patients were compared 6 wks postoperatively for uncorrected visual acuity, best corrected visual acuity and surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) Postoperative keratometry reading noted.
Result: The mean surgically induced astigmatism in SICS after 3 month follow up in group 1 was found to be 1.22 ± 0.32 D and in group 2 was found to be 0.77 ± 0.25 D. ( p<0.05). CONCLUSION: Frown incision induces minimal surgically induced astigmatism which has best visual outcome and faster postoperative recovery of patient.[advanced_iframe src="https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/embed.aspx?src=https://aiosproceedings.s3.ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/2021/E-Poster/FP1117.pptx" width="100%" height="608"]
