Abstract
PURPOSE:To compare Multicolor fundus imaging (MC) with color fundus photography (CFP) in the evaluation of Diabetic tractional retinal detachment (TRD) METHODS:30 eyes with Diabetic TRD were imaged prospectively using MC feature of Heidelberg Spectralis optical coherence tomography and Topcon CFP. Two investigators independently graded and determined the agreeability between two modalities RESULTS: Multicolor provides superior visualization, attachments and traction points of the posterior hyaloid face and is comparable to the OCT B scan. The vascularity, schisis and extent of second membranes was better appreciated in red reflectance images whereas the extent of retinal detachment was better on blue> green reflectance images when compared to CFP. CONCLUSION:The TRD area is more clearly demarcated in MC than in CFP images.MC is more sensitive for detection of secondary membranes and the extent of traction thus aiding in better surgical planning.
