Abstract
A retrospective review of eyes diagnosed with macular telangiectasia with multi modal imaging was done. All eyes with stage 4 or stage 5 mac tel underwent fundus photography, multicolour imaging and blue and infrared autofluorescence (BAF and IRAF). 21 eyes of 16 patients were included. CNVM was seen in 8 eyes, pigment deposition in 13 eyes. IR and IRAF images revealed the right-angled venule prominently. A hypo-IRAF halo was noted around the prominent venule in select cases indicating outer retinal loss. Hypo-IRAF was seen in intraretinal pigment clumps while hyper-IRAF was noted in subretinal pigment. IRAF showed a larger area of hypo-IRAF compared to loss of hypo-AF on BAF indicating future areas of involvement. CNVM was most prominently seen in IR and IRAF (n= 8). IRAF features in Mac Tel have not been studied. IRAF can be used as a predictive marker of early CNVM and outer retinal loss in eyes with stage 4 Mac Tel.
