Purpose: To diagnose the cause and manage a case of white eye in a 6 yr child. Methods: A 6yr old child was brought to the op with complaints of white discolouration in the left eye since 5 years, decrease in size of the left eye. On examination vision in RE was 6/9 and LE was PL-ve Moderate enophthalmos and esotropia were noted in LE. On SL examination a membranous white lesion was noted posterior to the lens. IO and B-scan revealed SRF and partial retinal detachment. A CT-scan was done which showed an atrophic and small globe with retro lental lesions and calcified areas along the vitreoretinal aspect.A vitreous tap was done which showed no malignant cells. A clinical diagnosis of coats disease was established. Sub retinal fluid was drained along with ILM peeling. conclusion : A case of white reflex and esotropia was evaluated and diagnosed as coats disease. Patient was counselled and asked to review at a later date for evisceration and prosthetic eye placement for cosmetic appeal.
