Abstract
Already calculated carbon foot printing of SICS helped us to compare our carbon foot printing & the measures taken in tackling it with our self-sustained campus.
Retrospective study from March 18- April 19 to assess the carbon foot printing per patient undergoing SICS in community hospital was done & measures to counteract the carbon emission using our hospital’s green cover was studied
Each SICS till discharge generated an average waste of 310 grams resulting in total of 3.20 kg CO2 equivalent. The cumulative effect of operating 32073 SICS accounted to 113.13 tonnes of CO2 which was overcome by absorption of 133.22 tonnes of CO2 by the green cover(4.1 acres) in our campus
As community based SICS being performed in our hospital in bulk number, the CO2 equivalent and carbon foot printing is highly significant. With recycling, reusing of waste generated &minimal usage of disposables along with the vast green cover of our hospital we have arrested this burden making it green campus
