Abstract
AIM: To describe a case of tubercular scleral abscessMATERIALS & METHODS: 65 year male had pain & redness of left eye for 1.5 months following history of vegetative foreign body & was on topical steroids and antibiotics(Ab). General physical & systemic examination:normal. Ocular findings: Vision 6/60,PR accurate with diffuse conjunctival congestion & superficial punctate keratopathy. Scleral abscess inferonasally. Anterior segment: 2+ cells, pigments at the back of cornea & anterior lens capsule. Pupil: festooned & sluggish reaction. Posterior segment: many small granuloma like superficial lesions (inferior quadrant). Steroid drops stopped.Blood investigations, TB workup &USG B scan done.RESULTS: USG: hypoechoic lesion in inferior sclera. Pulmonary Kochs (TB) was diagnosed & ATT started followed by drastic improvement.CONCLUSION: TB should be considered one of the differential diagnosis of infectious scleritis in endemic areas with ATT being the ultimate management.
