Abstract

In an outreach programme for community cataract surgical camp 20 eyes of 20 patients were operated by a single surgeon on two different days by manual small incision cataract surgery method.

Out of these, 10 patients developed post operative severe endophthalmitis and reduced Vision.

All protocols of cluster endophthalmitis were followed. They were subjected for intra vitreal injections followed by vitrectomy. Repeat injections and vitrectomy were done if required. Per operative fundal glow achieved in all cases except one.

Silicon oil was injected in 5 cases.

Variables were post operative days of reporting, Vision at the time of reporting, condition of cornea, retinal necrosis, repeat vitrectomy, Removal of IOL and silicon oil injection
