Abstract
A 60 years old lady presented with pain, redness, loss of vision in left eye for 1 month. She had never visited a hospital though she had gross reduction of vision in both eyes for 4 years. She did not know she would lose her eyesight irreversibly. She is illiterate. On examination, vision was Pl+, PR accurate in the left eye. Cornea was edematous, there was circumciliary congestion and posterior synechiae, her IOP was > 60 mm Hg. There was intumescent cataract. Under informed consent and COVID consent, the lens was extracted and an indigenous PCIOL inserted through SICS. Post- operatively, on 1st day, her vision was HM+, IOP was 18 mm Hg on 2 drugs. It improved to 3/60 after 4 days, her disc had glaucomatous cup, foveal reflex was dull. Her other eye had corneal opacity and senile cataract with a vision of 2/60 and IOP of 16 mmHg. She has requested for cataract surgery after counselling. We need to educate people about getting regular eye check-ups to avoid preventable blindness.
