Abstract

Spheroidal degeneration ( Labrador keratopathy , Climatic droplet Keratopathy ) typically occurs in men whose working lives are spent outdoor , ultraviolet exposure is likely to be an aetiological factor

Objective. To report Case series of surgical procedure with amniotic membrane transplant approaches in corneal spheroidal degenerations , post keratectomy.

Methods. Retrospective analysis of 6 patient involving corneal spheroidal

degenerations were performed a graft of amniotic membrane , A larger monolayer amniotic patch was then sutured to the perilimbal conjunctiva with the epithelial side facing the previously mechanically debrided corneal tissue . fresh amniotic membrane was used in all cases by a single surgeon preoperative and postoperative visual outcomes are recorded

Conclusions. The success of amniotic membrane applications in corneal spheroidal degenerations often improve visual acuity and the prognosis is good
