Abstract
Aim:Study on various factors affecting outcome of Therapeutic keratoplasty at a Tertiary eye care center in South India and to determine infection cure rate of Therapeutic keratoplasty. Materials and methods: Study was done on 51 patients with culture positive non-healing corneal ulcer not responding to maximum medical management where the outcome of therapeutic keratoplasty was studied for a period of 3 months postop.Mean infiltrate size was 6.59mm and mean graft size was 9.21mm. Results: Infection cure of Therapeutic keratoplasty in our study is 72.5% with a recurrence rate of 27.5%(All fungal). The main organisms isolated were fungus (86.3%) and Gram-positive cocci (11.8%). Conclusion: Type of infective agent is the major factor affecting the outcome and recurrence of infection seen in fungal keratitis(27.5%) alone. Postive correlation with trauma and is associated with outdoor workers.
