Abstract
Aim To report the findings of PDR in myopes
Materials & methods 10 patients with myopia & suspected diabetic nephropathy were referred for assessing diabetic retinopathy & its severity. Although clinically the findings appeared to be nonproliferative in nature , FFA confirmed the presence of PDR in 8 out of 10 patients & the other two had scattered capillary dropout areas.Although myopia with its associated choroidal changes was thought to insulate such retinas from developing PDR, we found a high incidence of PDR even in these patients particularly when associated with renal involvement. A low threshold for performing FFA in such situations may have to be maintained so as not to miss PDR which might happen if we rely on clinical examination alone
