Abstract
Aim: To describe serial retinal changes in dengue retinopathy. Materials and Methods: Prospective study of 15 dengue fever patients(29 eyes) with diminution of vision. Patients were imaged using Fundus photography, Fundus auto fluorescence, optical coherence tomography(OCT) and OCT angiography(OCTA). Morphological changes, changes in vessel density, flow void areas and choroidal vascularity index(CVI) were evaluated.Patients were treated with topical nepafenac and steroid drops RESULT: The best corrected visual acuity at presentation ranged from 1.00(snellen equivalent) to 0.05. Examination revealed vitreous cells, cotton wool spots and retinal haemorrhages. OCT showed Inner segment-outer segment disruption, edema, inner retinal thickening, ERM and foveal cystic changes. Flow void areas, decreased mean vessel density(VD) and CVI were seen in affected eyes, which improved on follow ups. Conclusion: Multimodal imaging especially OCT-A is invaluable in evaluation of dengue retinopathy.
