Abstract
Methods: 60 subjects given e/oint atropine 1% f/b refraction on day3.Same subjects called on day21 and e/d cyclopentolate 1% was instilled in conjunctival sac on the day of examination and refraction performed by retinoscopy.
Results: The total refractions were recorded after cycloplegia with atropine and cyclopentolate .Mean refraction after atropine (mean +3.89 ± 2.45 D) was statistically similar to mean refraction of cyclopentolate (mean +3.58 ± 2.30 D) the subjects showed side effect to atropine as compared with cyclopentolate
Conclusion:We suggest that cyclopentolate applied to younger hyperopic children is sufficient to produce good cycloplegia, with an effect similar to atropine, with less side effects.
