Abstract
In this study we bring a novel indigenous idea to substitute/alternate the use of regular Indirect Ophthalmoscope for fundus evaluation. It goes by the name of Hands Free Mobile Indirect Ophthalmoscope “HF-SIMO” which helps to click or record important fundus/anterior segment findings during examination. The device consists of a routine headband, a flexible arm (using the arm which comes along with table lamp), a commercially available mobile holder and a counter balance to provide stability depending upon the weight of the phone placed in the mobile holder. Using a +20D condensing lens we perform indirect ophthalmoscopy with the added advantages of simultaneously indenting and recording the peripheral images without the need for any assistance, scope of extra maneuverability and better control. We present our findings of 25 cases of ROP screening in whom HF-SIMO was performed and the good quality images & videos which were obtained and results in comparison with the manual findings.
