Abstract
Aim: To study the visual outcomes and patient satisfaction of bilateral implantation of Indian EDOF IOL.
Methods: 35 pts with bilateral cataract were selected and counselled for having EDOF (Supraphob Infocus) IOL implantation. Main outcome measures were uncorrected and corrected visual acuity for distance (UDVA), intermediate and near (UNVA) at 1, 4 weeks postoperatively. Spectacles independence, incidence of glare and halos, contrast sensitivity were assessed by using a standard questionnaire.
Results: 35 patients (20 F, 15 M) with mean age 54.57± 6.43 yrs were included in the study. The UDVA of 6/9 or better achieved in 32 (91.4%) pts, UNVA of N/8 or better in 28 (80%) pts and good intermediate vision in 30 (85.71) pts. Mild glare and halos in 6 (17.14%), and moderate occured in 1 (2.85%) pt. There were no loss of contrast sensitivity in 33 (94.2%) pts.
Conclusion: The Indian EDOF IOL provides cost-effective high level of spectacles independence with less photic phenomena.
