Abstract
Purpose:To analyze the indications,complications and surgical outcomes of IOL Exchange.
Methods:100 eyes of patients were retrospectively analyzed. The preoperative clinical details,intraoperative,postoperative complications,type of IOL exchanged,preoperative and postoperative best corrected visual acuity were recorded and analyzed.
Results:The main indication for surgery was Decentered IOL 36 cases.The average time period between initial surgery and exchange was 73.45±71.35 months.The technique used for IOL exchange, 35 cases were sulcus implantation of 3 piece IOL,37 cases posterior iris claw lens.9 cases had intraop PCR.The final follow up visual acuity showed a significant improvement by 0.43±0.36 LogMar units (p<0.01) from the preoperative value. Conclusion:Our cases series showed good visual outcome irrespective of secondary IOL technique used with low rate of vision threatening complications.The delay in intervention did not significantly affect the final visual outcome.
