Abstract
This prospective comparative study included 36 eyes undergoing cataract surgery.Preoperative pendulum marking was done by two methods.Group A was pendulum marking using Slit-lamp for chin rest and head rest. Group B was pendulum marking in sitting posture.Axis difference was measured from Verion marking. The axis deviation of pendulum marker from Verion was 4.8˚±3.33˚(Mean ± SD).In Group A, Mean ± SD:3.44˚± 2.09˚& Group B Mean ± SD:6.16˚±3.82˚. Comparison between Group A & B was statistically significant(P=0.01).The Mean ± SD in right and left eyes were 6.62˚± 3.48˚ & 3.35˚± 2.43˚ respectively. So axis difference was statistically significant between right and left eye(P=0.002), that was also statistically significant in individual group analysis. There was no significant correlation with age and sex.To decrease axis difference between Verion and pendulum marker, Slit-lamp use during Pendulum marking for head rest and chin rest will give better result by avoiding the cyclorotation.
