Abstract
MATERIAL AND METHODS –The study included patients with preop diagnosis of cataract and corneal astigmatism >0.75 D , who underwent phaco with toric IOL implantationdone by same surgeon with same technique and same toric IOL, comprising of 2 groups ,with 50 eyes each
GROUP A – Toric IOL implanted under BSS
GROUP B – Toric IOL implanted under OVD.
RESULTS – Toric IOL rotation was noted with itrace. Toric IOL rotation in Group A- showed IOL rotation of 3.5+/-2.24, 2.5+/-1.3,1.6+/-1.4 at POD1, 1 week and 3 months. Group B showed 8.1+/-2.10, 9.4+/-3.1,8+/-1.5 at POD 1 ,1 week and 3 months. 8 eyes from group b with more than 10 degree required re rotation on POD1.
Conclusion- Implantion of toric IOL under BSS serves more stability as compared to OVD. however the study needs to be done on a wider population and long term data is required.
