Abstract
Method: In this hospital-based, non-interventional, cross-sectional study,108 patients with uniocular blunt trauma between 18-60years of age, having no neurodeficit other than visual impairment were chosen. Patients were screened for underlying diseases like diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, glaucoma and subjected to pattern reversal VEP test.
Result: P100 latency on VEP showed significant prolongation in all grades of trauma. N75-P100 amplitude on VEP was significantly decreased in eyes that sustained blunt trauma.
Conclusion: This study shows the importance of neurophysiological tests like VEP in diagnosis of neurological damage in blunt ocular trauma in the absence of any fundus findings.
