Abstract
Purpose: To estimate the prevalence and patterns of ocular manifestations in HIV patients & their co relation with CD4count and HAART.
Method: A hospital based cross sectional study on 200 HIV positive patients undergoing slit lamp and fundoscopy from June 2018- May 2019
Results: Overall prevalence of ocular manifestation is 92(46%) of which HIV microangiopathy( 51%) , CMV retinitis(13%), Keratoconjunctivitis sicca(8.7%), Anterior uveitis and OSSN(5.4%), Blepheritis(4.3%), Papillitis and Molloscum contagiosum(3.2%), Toxoplasmosis and Retinal detachment(2%). are common.54% were males & 46% females. Ocular morbidity more common with CD4 <100/µl. Out of 92 patients Ocular morbidity was significantly higher (p <0.001) in NO HAART category 58(63%) compared to patients on HAART 34(36.3%). Conclusion: In present study, HAART may be the reason for decrease in prevalence of ocular lesions. Low CD4 count is an important predictor of occurrence of ocular morbidity in HIV patients.
