Abstract
Method: 3 patients presenting to OPD with one eye cataract with nasal pterygium with mandatory pre op slit lamp and dry eye evaluation underwent SICS with Pterygium Excision (Bare sclera technique) during January2019 to March 2019.
Result: After undergoing SICS with Pterygium Excision surgery, 3 patient’s Slit lamp examination revealed severe sclerocorneal thinning at the site of pterygium excision and 1 patient had severe dry eye during postoperative period. They were managed by visco eye patching , intensive lubricants and low frequency antibiotic steroid eye drops.
Conclusion: In conclusion we can state that pterygium excision may result in sclerocorneal dellen. Conservative treatment may be appropriate to manage this rare complication.
