Abstract
PURPOSE:To determine the frequency, presentation and outcome of bilateral ocular trauma.METHODS:Prospective observational study from teaching hospital.All patients were examined as per standard procedures.RESULTS:Out of 402 patients,36 had bilateral injury among them72.22% were male.Most vulnerable age group was 10-25 years (33.33%).55.56%patients belonged to rural background.72.22% had mechanical injury,16.67% had cracker injury & 8.33% sustained acid attack.Common etiology was RTA(41.67%),assaults(22.22%) &recreational injury (33.33%).86.11% were without protective device.58.33%had associated craniofacial trauma.54 eyes had globe injury.22 eyes had ≥ 3ocular structure involvement.Zone-III injury was seen in 26yes.OTSI was <45 in16.67% of right eye and27.78 % of left eye.27.78% of right eye and 36.11% of left eye showed blinding outcome.CONCLUSION:Blateral ocular trauma common with RTA,assault and recreational activities.Victims are usually young males.Majority had poor outcome.[advanced_iframe src="https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/embed.aspx?src=https://aiosproceedings.s3.ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com/2021/E-Poster/FP546.ppt" width="100%" height="608"]
