Abstract
Material and Methods: Prospective study,110 cases, over 4 years. Examination done as per standard.
Results: RTA the most common aetiology (49.10%) followed by fall(27.7%),Physical assault(18.18%) sport/recreational (5.45%).34.55% orbito maxillofacial trauma,38.18% cranio orbital trauma and 27.27% had isolated orbital trauma.The radiological findings were # of the roof (61.81%) medial wall(32.73%) floor(25.45%),29.10% of the patients had 2 wall #, 27.27% 3 wall and 18.18% all 4 wall #.in 27.7% cases additional # were detected by 3D image reconstruction.Blinding outcome(32.73%)attributed to rupture globe, retinal and traumatic optic neuropathy.
Conclusion: RTA are the leading cause of severe orbital trauma.3D CT is a valuable tool ,enabling evaluation and perception of extent of major fracture line and displacement of fragments along with volumetric assessment.
