Abstract
AIM: To perform a prospective case series study on profile of ocular trauma presenting to a tertiary care hospital in Eastern India during COVID-19 lockdown.
MATERIALS AND METHOD: All patients presenting with Ocular trauma to our hospital between 24th March 2020 to 24th May 2020 were included. A comprehensive ocular examination was done along with other relevant investigations. Data was analyzed based on Ocular trauma classification. RESULTS: A total of 88 patients were evaluated. Mean age was 28.6 years with more males (63.6%). Most predominant age group involved was 11-20 years with 25.0% cases,mostly of penetrating nature. There was a decline in globe rupture cases attributing to decrease in Road traffic accidents.
CONCLUSION: Understanding the profile of ocular trauma can help us in increasing awareness to prevent ocular injuries.
