Abstract
Purpose:To report case of b/l disc edema presenting as the first manifestation of Acoustic Neuroma.Methods:A Retrospective Case Report.Result- 35yr,F came with 4m h/o of blurred vision in BE.She complained deafness in her right ear,1 yr ago and accompanied with tinnitus,dizziness and vertigo.O/E her VA was 6/9 b/l. Fundoscopy revealed b/l optic disc edema.Sensation in the right ophthalmic and maxillary division of the trigeminal nerve was reduced to light touch.Sensorineural deafness in the rigth ear was confirmed by pure tone audiometry.MRI showed a mass lesion at the right cerebellopontine angle(4.5X4.7X5cm) s/o of an acoustic neuroma.Posterior fossa craniectomy and excision of the mass lesion was done.Conclusions:The initial symptoms are neurotological,including u/l SNHL,tinnitus,and vertigo as first complaint.Optic disc edema is rare presenting feature of acoustic neuromas.Here,we demonstrate that acoustic neuroma can present with complains like blurring of vision and disc edema
