Abstract
AIM: To compare subfoveal choroidal thickness in diabetics with or without diabetic retinopathy(DR)
METHOD: In this cross-sectional study, all diabetic patients coming to ophthalmic OPD were included. All eyes underwent comprehensive and standardised ophthalmic examination and subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) was measured using high definition enhanced depth imaging spectral domain optical coherence tomography using Cirrus HD OCT Model 500.
RESULT: Total 76 eyes were included and grouped into 16 eyes with diabetic without DR and 60 eyes with DR. Mean SFCT in patient of diabetes without DR is 339.19µm and in DR group is 266µm and student t-test were applied. Significant decrease (p<0.001) in SFCT was observed in diabetic retinopathy group compared with patients without diabetic retinopathy. CONCLUSION: SFCT is a dynamic parameter affected in Diabetic patients & a significant decrease in thickness in patients with DR compared with patients without DR was observed.
