Abstract
Synopsis: Human amniotic membrane transplantation (hAM-T) is a very versatile and an indispensable tool for the ocular surface surgeons. hAM-T provides tectonic support and has anti-inflammatory and growth factors which help in restoration of compromised ocular surface. hAM-T finds use in acute conditions like chemical or thermal burn and Stevens-Johnson syndrome; as protective cover over surface epithelial defects, and as adjunct in other surface procedures like pterygium excision, limbal cell transplantation, conjunctival mass excision, corneal perforation management and bleb repair. This is a comprehensive outline from your own hAM to various applications in ocular surface disorders.
Objective: At the conclusion of this video-based course, the surgeon will able to describe (1) how to process and prepare hAM from human placenta, (2) different types of hAM available, (3) various indications of HAM-T in ocular surface surgery and (4) various surgical techniques of hAM-T.
