Abstract
Cataract surgery in the setting of co-existing retinal diseases and uveitis has always been a challenge. At times, Cataract surgery may also adversely affect the co-existing retinal disease or uveitis. This course will focus on the surgical pearls and key teaching points for performing cataract surgery in the setting of pre-existing Diabetic Macular Edema, Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy, Peripheral Retinal Degenerations, Uveitis, AMD and cataract surgery in Vitrectomized eyes. This video assisted course will be based on the currently available evidence. A more methodical approach for evaluation, investigation and planning of such cases will be shown. The rational use of adjunctive therapies like anti-VEGF injections, steroids and Lasers will also be discussed. At the end of the course, the attendees will have a better understanding of the problems and will be ready to take on the challenges in a more scientific method and achieve optimal outcomes.
