Abstract
Successful lasik surgeries require consummate precision. The refractive surgery evolved from flapless PRK to MK Lasik, Femto Lasik, SMILE and advance surface ablation. Lamellar corneal flap formation is the critical step in successful LASIK surgery. Improper flap formation, including improper flap geometry, decentration, irregularity of the cut, and epithelial damage, can lead to myriad LASIK complications. The quantitative relationships between the distributions of displacement and stress on the corneal surface and flap architecture will be discussed.
At present, the armamentarium of a refractive procedure is full of choices. Here we have provided the advantages, disadvantages, specific indications, complications management of various flap and flapless laser refractive procedures.
