Abstract
Glaucoma is usually an asymptomatic disease, until the later stages by which time the prognosis is poor. It is the responsibility of the examining ophthalmologist to
detect glaucoma at a treatable stage. In a busy clinic, it is often easy to miss glaucoma, therefore, this course will highlight certain key clinical methods to be
adhered to during a routine examination. Targeted history and the relevant questions to identify at risk patients, slit lamp examination starting with Van Herricks,
Applanation tonometry pearls, the art of quick and correct Gonioscopy and the distinctive signs to look for when evaluating the Disc for glaucoma. Finally, the
course will discuss the relevant tests to perform to confirm the diagnosis and reading a visual field and Optical Coherence Tomography printout. Attendees will be
confident of diagnosing glaucoma in a high-volume practice or busy eye out patient department.
